Twitch is a streaming service used by thousands of players, TV presenters and viewers around the world. You can use it to broadcast live games and communicate with other players and observers. With Twitch you can explore hundreds of feeds and games. You can even help your favorite streamers by watching them, chatting with them and subscribing to them, giving them a chance to win prizes and recognition. Unfortunately the sun and the rainbow don’t always shine with Twitch. Sometimes we end up with a creek getting wetter, or worse, with that awful black umbrella waving. So what can we do?
It is so annoying when you are dealing with a black screen on Twitch or Twitch streams that are not loaded. Above all, you have to go from forum to forum to find the ideal solution. Fortunately, we have devised a number of practical solutions for all Twitch users who suffer from this problem, so that you can watch your favourite streamer again in no time!

Change browser
The first (and easiest) step to finding a solution for the non-downloadable spam streams is to try a different browser than the one you are currently using. The problem may be that your current browser runs the update at the same time as Twitch, which can cause a number of problems.
Because most of us already have multiple browsers on our PC or Mac, this step is fortunately often almost effortless: It’s just a matter of switching from one browser to another. But even if you only have a browser installed, the correction will not take much time. For example, if Twitch doesn’t want to download to Chrome, you can simply download Firefox, Opera, or Microsoft Edge.
If you have problems not downloading Twitch in Chrome in particular, you can try changing some browser settings first. Indeed, hardware acceleration settings in Chrome can often cause problems for Twitch users. Your internet connection
No matter how fast you think, in nine out of ten cases it is easier to download videos that are not properly formatted. The best way to control the speed of the Internet is to perform a quick and easy speed test. For example, you can use testmy.net to get an accurate picture of the speed of your internet.
When the test is complete, look at the results to see what needs to be done next. If your internet connection is much slower than expected, you can try a few things…
- Use an Ethernet cable instead of WiFi; it may be more stable.
- Get closer to your WiFi router.
- Turn off other devices connected to the network.
- Reboot your computer or router – it’s the oldest trick in the world, but you may want to try it first before stepping into more extreme methods.
If you’ve been living at a low internet speed for a while (and unfortunately don’t see any change in the short term), you can find the answer by changing the speed of the stream you choose. Some streamers offer the possibility to reduce transmission quality. Although this certainly reduces the quality of the flow, it can solve the problem of dampening shaking. You can also try to disable the HTML5 player.
Still no dice? You may need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) directly. If they don’t find problems, changing service providers can be a more desperate solution.
DNS switch
The reason why Twitch buffers may also have to do with your DNS. Some ISPs – mainly campus and corporate networks – tend to block Twitch DNS servers. If this is true, you can try using a public DNS server such as Google or openDNS. This can help to solve possible download problems.
To switch to the public DNS, go to the Start menu, type ncpa.cpl and click the icon to open the network connection page. Then right-click on the network connection whose DNS you want to change and select the properties. On the Network Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) tab, select Properties. You can then enter your desired DNS and alternative DNS addresses. You can choose to search for the most recent addresses or simply use the following:

Using VPN
The reason that Twitch does not download for you may also be due to problems in a particular country or region. Fortunately, there’s a quick solution – just use a VPN. You can install the VPN browser extension or go directly to the VPN site. All you have to do is choose an address in another country and wait for the spell to be cast.
Or, if you are already using a VPN, this may be the reason why Twitch streams are not loading. So maybe you want to disable your current VPN and see if this changes anything for you.
Steam test
From 2013 steam users will be able to link their Twitch accounts to their Steam accounts. This was especially useful for Dota 2 fans, as it allowed them to download elements of the tournament while watching the twitch feeds (provided they had a ticket for the event). Users can therefore follow the events on DotaTV and Twitch without missing out on the in-game rewards. If you haven’t linked to your account yet, you can do so on the Links page in your Twitch account settings.
If you’re currently using steam, this could be one of the factors preventing Twitch from loading into Chrome – or any other browser of your choice. Steam (like many other ISPs) often updates games with downloadable patches. If your internet speed is not as high as you would like (when is that even possible?), this can lead to high buffering. So the first step is to check Steam and see if there are any downloads. If that’s the case, tell the program to stop and see if anything changes as you continue.
How do I know if it’s my fault or a tap?
The easiest thing you can do to keep Twitch buffered is to put him on Twitch. Unfortunately, in most cases this is not true. If you don’t see @TwitchSupport twitter about problems on your site, it’s probably a problem on your site. Twitch users are not the quietest group when it comes to streaming problems, so you would know if it is a bigger problem. This means that your only solution is to solve the problem yourself.
